50th Annual Street Rod Nationals comes to Louisville
Ten to fifteen thousand hot rods from all over the US and Canada are set to roll into Louisville for the 50th Annual Street Rod Nationals that kicks off in just a few days. Since we are based out of Louisville, we thought we would put together a little list of cool places to eat, drink and hang out while you’re not at the show. There is a lot of cool to see in Louisville, this list by no means, includes it all.
Let’s talk food,
- Taco Luchador $ – The name says it all, tacos for lunch. They are open till 9p however so if you can’t make it for lunch. 938 Baxter Ave
- Seviche $$$ – It is Latin food and it is AMAZING! Plus Chef Anthony Lamas drives a couple of kick-ass air-cooled Volkswagens. Dinner dining here and if the temp is right, check out the patio. 1538 Bardstown Road
- Feast BBQ $$ – Some of the best Q in Louisville. Expect a line and expect it to be worth it. 909 E. Market St
- Wick’s Pizza $$ – You want a good, pie – a dinner pie, plus great beer and a cool hang, check out Wick’s! 975 Baxter Ave
- Spinelli’s Pizzeria $ – Maybe you just want a slice, on the go, or after hitting the bars. Check out Spinelli’s for the best NY style pizza this side of Philly! 614 Baxter Ave
- Frankfort Ave Beer Depot $$ – You can smell the smoker from four blocks away. Great BBQ, good beer, cool hang. 3204 Frankfort Ave
- Havana Rumba Express & Tapas Bar $$ – Pretty sure I could eat here every night, great Cuban food and amazing drinks. On the rocks with salt! 2210 Bardstown Road
- Nord’s Bakery $ – Best doughnuts in Louisville, hands down. 2118 South Preston Street
- Dairy Dell $ – Right down the street from the Expo Center. 575 Eastern Parkway
Fun and Cool things to see,
- Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory – Its a must even if you’re not into baseball. 800 W. Main Street
- Muhammad Ali Center – One of Louisville favorite sons. 144 N Sixth Street
- Joe Ley Antiques – If you want to find some stuff, you will find it here. This place is packed to the walls with cool, odd and rare stuff in a three store building that used to be a schoolhouse. 615 E Market Street
- 21C Hotel and Gallery – They have a restaurant and bar also. 700 West Main St
- Ultra Pop – Very cool low brow toys and books, stuff you can’t find anywhere else. 960 Barrett Ave
- Bourbon Tours – You can’t kick a rock without hitting a distillery in Louisville and there are several within an hour or so drive.
Get some ink while you’re in town,
- Five Star Tattoo – World-class artist, clean shop. 2208 Frankfort Ave
- Acme Ink – One of the best and longest-running shops in Louisville. 2007 Bonnycastle Ave
